We (Little Nico and Old white wolf) invite you to watch the new video presentation of the 4L Trophy.
Daft Punk & the two Martians who accompanied us (God rest their souls), are entitled to their moment of glory.
It is here in the picture.
We leave at dawn 5:30-6am. We cross the different zones of bivouacs. All 4L raise the foot. Rocky section ends to complete the cars damaged by four days of track: broken shock absorbers, overheated engines, skid plates and pots pulled silent, see rear spars broken: we pass a car holding his rear by straps: very impressive.
The atmosphere is somewhat tense. We have to bring the car to Chambéry then Havre via Switzerland for me. The weather is still covered. Fatigue starts to be felt.
Finally we leave these barren mountains, very rocky. Atmosphere a bit cold ... A final section in sandy plains and we finally see the ark of arrival at Zagora. That's it: We did it ... We end the section 4L Trophy Raid.
Directorate Marrakech, we stop at a small square Agdz to eat a tagine. We do some shopping in a store. Negotiations me worth being called a "Berber". A good laugh.
We pass Ouarzazate and then we attack the last passes before Marrakech. In the climb, we break a water pump belt. A female crew shows us how to change that. We are really good mechanics, hey hey! ! !
Arrive late afternoon in Marrakech: our mission if we accept it, find our hotel. Let's go for a Joy Ride: scooter that tumbles, bicycle, pedestrian crossing in front of the car, priority ... right? What am I? It exists? This is sport! ! ! To top it off, police polite but clueless as us. An example of an explanation Agent: "So there you go straight, then left at the roundabout in front and there .. You will see a policeman, you ask him "Agent 2:" So right and left [...] and there, when you see a policeman, you ask him "Agent 3:" So [..] when you see a police, you ask "Etc., Etc..
Finally, the hotel ****, dreams, large comfortable beds, a large and beautiful room and above all ... a bathroom .... SHOWER! ! !
Evening in the alleys of the Medina, very charming, we wander the streets and we find ourselves trapped within its walls. The place is shifted, the courteous atmosphere, and offers: Chichonnées! ! "You, try grilling your head!"
Back at the hotel where we crush us in our beds.
Beginning of the marathon. We have the right to ride until dark. After we plant the tents where we are. The bivouacs which are scattered. The sky is clouded over. Mechanics began increasingly to yield. The cars on the roadside are becoming more frequent. The atmosphere is good but not very reassuring.
And to top it all ... we are all, Nico, the horned and myself accompanied by a charming companion: tourista. Emergency stops are linked. At least we have time to take pictures.
After a short session in the plains and sandy tracks, we tackle what will be our ordeal overnight in Zagora: the stony tracks at the heart of a small mountain. These tracks compel us not to roll. We want to maintain the mechanical.
The dusk arrives. We ask ourselves at the foot of a small hill, changing a flat tire not by rocks but a tree branch. Small campfire enjoyable and a little delirious picture before going to bed in windy conditions.
A long day ... All the track. This day is characterized by space. A long sandy plain enables us to move away from other vehicles. With all these disparate clouds of dust, it seems that a load is given.
The day was mainly marked by: the tuning of the car of horned. Jealous not get noticed as much as we with our passengers, we find their bones on a piece of abandoned carcass (very western like vision). Roof rack and is decorated on all sides. We rebaptisons crew: "The Flintstones. "
But another adventure worth relating. Our two crews were more than prepared (ironically) for this adventure, especially us. With our two rear shocks, our two tires, and our two ball joints only directions as spare parts, we were not proud. Our comrades have lost (broken?) One of the screws holding the rear shock. What a laugh ... 4 for binding to the buffer and replace. After X attempts, we arrive at our end.
We were just under a tree in the middle of nowhere. A photo shoot was imposed automatically. We dedicate this tree to some pictures.
In the evening bivouac quiet with few adventures around the campfire. Moreover, children do not play with gasoline and matches, otherwise it will soon feel the roasted pig! The hair on my tibia push finally finished.
We leave for the famous dunes of Merzouga, after the magnificent Ziz Valley oasis and its many ... addition to the sand, stone and desert.
A little way to start the day, allowing us to reach Erfoud. Break the Internet to reassure everyone. The price is more than beneficial ... less than 1 € per hour. Just before leaving town, we meet a young on his bike carrying cakes piled haphazardly (famous Moroccan bread). They make us dream. The end of the road runs by tasting one of these cakes still burning.
We thus find the track, after a few kilometers. Here, the choice is fast ... a lot of cars go to our left, however a track on the right corresponds to our eyes to the indication of the road book: 210 °. We try the blow ... A small road link will provide each the pleasure of discovering the magnificent Ziz Valley Erfoud before joining. Pause to let some Internet news and read the mails. We find the track and follow the road book ... and not the other crews!
Azimuth 210 ° on the slopes uncrowded ... nothing ... alone in the world ... We have fun even we leave the track to leave our mark. Then the doubt begins to dawn, we see off the dust clouds of the other cars who all follow.
We remain still on our mind and in half an hour, it pays. We find other crews lunch break. Sharing a beer, discussions on the road book, the 4L. Meanwhile, behind us going with a Moroccan camel, this is not the most beautiful animal in the world.
We take this space to start a line with seven other 4L ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... Goooo!! Nico, driving Titinne, close behind the first (GTL). BRAVO! ! !
We reach the main runway and there ... the spectacle of dunes begins. We stop to run barefoot in the sand so fine ... a red color. The immensity of the dunes, the desert that begins at our feet and seems to extend to infinity leaves us ... silent. Back on the road, a little messed up. First crash sandy. A quick jerk of mutual aid and 4L, we leave quietly to the bivouac.
On arrival of the Bivouac, we unload all our supplies to collect them. Then the usual pace, installation of tents, small consolation beers ... A whole ritual. Then we attack the race from the dunes, far too short for our liking. We're trapped in a trough filled with sand. We attack two times before the obstacle to overcome.
The dunes are so attractive that we decided to go take our drink on top of one of them. Sausage, pastis on the back ... neither one nor two ... We climb a huge dune and we see a beautiful sunset. Sitting there ... we remain a long time. We return very late dinner. A feast awaits us .... Spiced up sometimes ... "TRRRRAAADDDDIIIITTTTTIIIIOOOONNNNN! ! ! ! "
To register for the 4L Trophy, we had to register on behalf of an association. Rather than creating one for only 15 days of trial, we preferred to represent an existing association and enjoy the 4L Trophy for the (re) know.
This association is called VIDOME , it was created by the French in 2004 to support projects in a village in Benin: Kokoro. The purpose of this association is not moving away from the humanitarian part of the 4L Trophy since it also deals with the educational project. But not only the year 2007 was for them, the realization of a major project: the construction of a maternity.
Whether you are interested in a humanitarian mission, to finance projects of the association, or just learn more about their work, please visit: www.vidome.com .
The Crew 1086 - VIDOME like to thank all members of the association for their confidence, with a particular nod to Gwen who managed our finances.
