Here, the schedule takes shape. Thank you my little Nico: "You occupy yourself of all, I care for nothing".
So here are the details of the walk:
"So I just finished the route on google maps ... so you saw the map, now, here are some explanations (and some minor roads).
Starting on Tuesday 18 Galway (you can get to see Galway on 17 and take the temperature of Irish pubs)
45 kms to go to Carraroe (Carna in Gaelic, it is better to know because we're going to see much!)
Not much to see along the coast but cons, go on and Lettermore Gorumna Island. We sleep in tents. Location: to be defined locally.Wednesday 19
Departure from Carraroe towards Roundstone 70 Kms
It continues along the coast with a stop at the port of Kilkerian (seaweed processing and salmon) and Cashel (great view of the hill Cashel Hill) then stop at Roundstone.
2 Campsites so nice to see where you plant the tent. Typical small port, it comes out!Thursday 20
Departure from Roundstone in Cleggan 45 Kms
It always runs along the coast and arrive mid morning in Clifden. Break!
One of the most beautiful pony fairs since 1924. According to Backpacker, "good-fair atmosphere throughout the city, where barrels of Guinness can be long ..."
We leave towards the Sky Road, a legendary road, west of the city. Claddaghduff Directorate, where we will wait (or not) the low tide to go on Omey Island.
We sleep depending on what time it is.Friday 21
We will say leaving Cleggan 40 Kms towards Leenane
Stop Letterfrack, Connemara National Park entrance, visit the Visitors Centre. Departure for a walking tour of the Twelve Bens (2-3h)
Kylemore Abbey and Gardens (entrance fee but not very interesting as the Backpacker)
Killary fjord to contemplate. Even taking our breakfast! (Night in hostel / camping: http://www.sleepzone.ie/About_Sleepzone_Connemara/Default.87.html)Saturday 22
Leenane-Achill Island 80 Kms
The largest island of Ireland, connected to the mainland by a bridge. It contains the highest cliffs in Europe!
The "cities" of Keel and Dooagh
Night on a beach, it is playable, right?Sunday 23
Westport-Achill Island 60 Kms
It profits from the island and we go quiet, stopping at Abbey Burrishoole (if it has not made up)Monday 24
Westport Cong 60 Kms
It runs along the Lough Mask and visit Cong.
We can sleep a little further, on the edge of another lake, Lough Corrib.Tuesday 25
Cong-Galway 80 km (or less and I think it's better!)
It borders the largest freshwater lake in Ireland and we ended a sacred adventure yet ...8-9 days I think, an affordable rate and a small margin for the unexpected ...
It starts to get late and 480 Kms me tired
If this fits you, you can sign! We hear about it and I'll let you learn about other stuff to do.
Take CareNiKo "
